The tour starts out in the historic and artistic metropolis of Lima, then soon immerses you in the mysterious Amazon rainforest on a luxury cruise experience.

Explore the Best of Lima

You’ll gain a taste of what Peru has to offer by starting your tour in the culinary capital city of Lima. Relax with world-class ceviche and sip on a favorite Pisco Sour as you soak in the Peruvian culture all around you. For your two nights here, you’ll have the choice to stay in either a 4-star, 5-star, or Boutique hotel for ultimate comfort.

This bustling city offers everything you could want and more. Along with modern conveniences, throughout the city are reminders of its historical past, from the ancient pre-Incans to the colonial era. Lima also expresses itself with art, especially in the increasingly popular Barranco District, where creatively visibly flourishes.

Nestled along the Pacific Coast, Lima is home to some of the most spectacular sunsets found anywhere, so you’ll want to make time to catch at least one of these during your stay here.

Amazon Immersion

From Lima, you’ll fly to Iquitos, located within the Amazon rainforest. Here you will spend a leisurely afternoon getting acquainted with this historic jungle city before being escorted aboard the ultra-luxury Aqua Nera for your 4 -night Amazon cruise.

The Aqua Nera is the perfect way to experience the Amazon, providing personalized service, world-class 5-star cuisine that includes local ingredients, and comfortable contemporary luxury suites. You’ll also enjoy social spaces, including indoor and outdoor lounges and bars. Special features include an infinity plunge pool to cool off in, a gym, and a spa to enjoy a little extra relaxation.

Amazon tours from Lima don’t get much better than this one, with its variety of activities on offer. Join your private guides for wildlife excursions, rainforest walks, and even a little piranha fishing. You’ll also have chances to kayak, canoe, or swim along the way as well. For a special treat, experience an Amazonian village or count the stars overhead at night with the hi-tech telescope onboard.

Before boarding your flight back to Lima, you’ll have time to explore the local market, sample exotic snacks, and see where orphaned Amazonian manatees spend time in rehabilitation before returning to the wild.

When it comes to Lima Peru Amazon tours, this one is the perfect way to experience the unique offerings of such a beautiful country and immerse yourself in its exquisite nature.

Welcome to Lima

Lima is a bustling, busy city and one of the most important in South America. Any trip to Peru will likely begin and end in the capital and visitors take advantage of the fact that Lima is widely regarded to be the culinary capital of the continent and home to many of the best restaurants in South America. Home of the ceviche and the Pisco Sour it is a city where the past and present mix beautifully, from the colonial center to modern Miraflores, through to the ancient Incan and pre-Incan culture which can be seen in Lima’s various museums.

A city of almost 11 million people, it is nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes mountains. This unique location means it enjoys a microclimate of zero rainfall and is spread along the coast atop cliffs that offer beautiful sunset views and peaceful ‘malecóns’, even a short trip is guaranteed to be richly rewarding and a perfect introduction to Peru and its culture.

Lima Through the Ages

Today, we learn all about the fascinating history of Lima from ancient pre-Incan times through to the colonial era, and how the invasion of the Spanish changed life in Lima forever, influencing its culture, architecture, language, and development. The Larco Museum is South America’s finest collection of pre colonization-era artifacts, and home to the famous “Treasures of Peru” section. You are accompanied by a museum curator on a select tour of the museum’s 45,000-piece collection. The curator will talk you through more than five thousand years of Ancient Peruvian history, tying in every piece to specific part of Peru’s colorful history, to leave you with an unrivaled understanding and knowledge of the fascinating history of this wonderful country. We enjoy a gourmet lunch in Café del Museo restaurant situated the environs of the museum itself or on the terrace overlooking the garden and its ancient statues and colonial amphorae.

Up next is a visit to a “Huaca”, an astonishingly preserved seven-tiered adobe and clay pyramid that dates from 700 AD and was once the administrative center of ancient Lima. From there, we take you in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to the colonial center of Lima which acts as the modern-day administrative center of both Lima and Peru. Here we take you inside the perfectly conserved house of the conquistador Jeronimo de Aliaga y Ramirez, maintained by his direct descendants and possibly the finest example of colonial architecture and republican-era Lima. With all the learning done for the day, we finish the day with a “toast for art” in the beautifully restored colonial building that is now Hotel B, itself something of a museum. Enjoy your refreshing cocktail among the bohemian surroundings of the artsy Barranco district before being taken back to your hotel.
