Overview
Montemar Galapagos comprises two luxury eco villas situated on a 43-acre private reserve in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos Archipelago. The reserve sits within the natural migration path of the Galapagos Giant Tortoises, and it is not unusual to see large numbers of them roaming the grounds. The property is home to giant tortoise ponds, an organic coffee plantation, native and endemic flora and fauna, and plenty of activities for guests to experience.

Dining & Activities
Your stay is on the basis of full board, and the local owners and hosts, Roberto and Reyna, a naturalist guide and National Geographic grantee respectively, will be on hand throughout your stay to ensure you make the most of your Galapagos Islands vacation. One way is by sharing their country’s culture and food through delicious chef-prepared meals from local recipes utilizing organic ingredients and sustainably caught fish. Dietary restrictions are catered to.
With their profound knowledge of the islands, and having explored all activity options with their own kids, your hosts are perfectly placed to recommend the most rewarding family experiences, and make your stay personalized and truly special. They can organize an array of daily excursions, all led by expert naturalist guides. Activities include kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing in amazingly clear waters; swimming and snorkeling with playful marine wildlife; hiking, cycling, and scootering around the islands. Or for something a little slower, you can take nature walks on the islands, picnic on the beaches, and visit the local market.
You can even visit neighboring islands by luxury private yacht, and diving trips can be organized. However you may find you don’t want to go anywhere when there is so much to enjoy at the property itself. Enrich and energize yourself with specialized coffee workshops at the on site organic coffee plantation, culinary courses held in your villa’s very own open kitchen, signature spa treatments and mindfulness exercises in the meditation studio, or body-bending al fresco yoga sessions at the outdoor bamboo yoga studio.
Sustainability
As the spectacular result of a sustainable passion project from two true custodians of Galapagos, it’s no surprise that Montemar is perhaps the best example of eco-friendly lodging in the entire archipelago. From water to energy, from food to waste, and from location to construction materials, every single aspect of Montemar eco luxury villas has been carefully selected in order to yield the lowest possible environmental impact. Montemar collects 100% of its water from rainfall, and the property generates 99% of its energy from solar panels and solar water heaters, and grows its own organic produce.
With a focus on slow-paced experiences and off-the-beaten-track adventures, a stay at Montemar eco luxury villas offers a truly awesome experience for groups of friends and families who love being out in nature, learning about the unique wildlife in Galapagos, and sharing quality time with each other. You can look forward to an exclusive insight into island life and an impressive focus on experiential learning.
