PM: You will be picked up by our minivan between 1:00 and 2:00 PM in Vientiane and welcomed aboard our charming boutique river vessel, where your inviting cabin awaits, ready for you to settle in and unpack for an unforgettable 11-day journey. In the afternoon, embark on a guided tour through the vibrant streets of Vientiane, taking in the city’s most iconic landmarks. Equipped with torches, we explore its hidden depths, uncovering its secrets before returning to the ship.

Kuang Si Waterfalls & Luang Prabang

AM: In the morning, you’ll embark on a guided tuk-tuk excursion to the famous Kuang Si Waterfalls. These stunning turquoise falls cascade over several tiers, creating natural pools perfect for a refreshing swim. Right next to the waterfalls is the heartwarming “Free the Bears” rescue center, dedicated to the protection and conservation of the endangered sun and moon bears throughout Southeast Asia. Here, we’ll learn more about the incredible efforts to rehabilitate these gentle creatures.

PM: In the afternoon, we arrive in Luang Prabang, the former royal capital of Laos and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through the historic streets and visit Wat Xiengthong, the city’s most renowned temple, a masterpiece of Laotian architecture.

As evening falls, head up Mount Phou-Si for breathtaking panoramic views of the Mekong and Khan rivers. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll along the peaceful Mekong promenade or explore the lively Hmong Night Market.

AM: In the early morning, you can witness or take part in the Tak Bat, a traditional alms-giving ceremony in the streets of Luang Prabang, where dozens of saffron-robed monks and novices silently walk through the streets and alleys of the old town. Afterward, your guide will take you through the colorful morning market, where the air is filled with the fragrant aromas of exotic spices, locally grown teas, and freshly brewed Laotian coffee.

After breakfast on board, embark on the second half of your city tour, starting with a visit to the National Museum of Luang Prabang, housed in the elegant former royal palace, offering fascinating insights into the city’s history. Later, visit a charming local handicraft village, where the vibrant artistry of Laos comes to life.

Pak Ou Caves

AM: During breakfast, your cruise takes you upstream where we explore the legendary Pak Ou Caves, inhabited by thousands of small Buddha statues lovingly placed by pilgrims over the centuries. From this sacred site, you have the option to embark on a jungle trek through lush greenery, leading you to the local village of Ban Muang Keo. If you prefer a more relaxed pace, a short boat ride will take you to the village. You can witness the ancient art of distilling Lao-Lao, the local rice whiskey of Laos, guided by Miss Somechan Khonpachith, who has dedicated her life to mastering this craft. She will not only reveal the secrets of this ancient technique but also invite you to a tasting.

PM: In the afternoon, your ship continues cruising upstream towards Oudomxay Province, passing by the construction site of the Pak Ou Dam. Hill Tribe Village and Border Crossing

AM: After breakfast, embark on a journey to one of the local hill tribe villages in the Pak Tha area, where you’ll have the chance to experience their unique way of life. Following your visit, return to the ship for the final leg of your river cruise, soaking in the stunning landscapes as you sail toward the Thailand–Laos border.
